Create Your Own BullWatt Workout with ChatGPT or Claude via MCP
Create a workout that fits your goals, available time, and current fitness with the help of ChatGPT or Claude. BullWatt's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server gives your AI assistant the workout format, real examples, validation tools, and everything it needs to prepare a session you can launch in BullWatt.
Your personal workout, created through conversation
Instead of manually building every interval, describe the ride you need in everyday language. You can specify the duration, training goal, difficulty, maximum intensity, recovery time, or the type of session you enjoy. The assistant uses the BullWatt catalog as a reference, creates a compatible workout, and checks it before saving.
- Made for your schedule: ask for a 20-minute recovery ride, a 45-minute threshold session, or a longer endurance workout.
- Adapted to your goal: target endurance, tempo, sweet spot, threshold, VO2 max, or a progressive return to training.
- Ready for BullWatt: the MCP server validates the workout format and returns a direct link to start the session.
Quick guide: connect, ask, and ride
1. Open ChatGPT or Claude:
Use a version of your preferred assistant that supports remote MCP servers or custom connectors. In ChatGPT, custom MCP apps are configured from the Apps settings after developer mode is enabled; availability depends on your plan and workspace permissions.
2. Add the BullWatt MCP server:
Create a custom MCP connection named BullWatt and enter this server URL:
https://www.bullwatt.com/mcp/trainings
Once connected, allow the assistant to use BullWatt's available resources and tools.
3. Describe the workout you need:
Include useful details such as your available time, objective, preferred interval length, and intensity limit. BullWatt uses FTP ratios, so the same workout automatically adapts to the FTP configured in the app.
Example prompt: “Create a 45-minute cycling workout with a progressive warm-up, three 8-minute threshold intervals at no more than 100% FTP, 3-minute recoveries, and a cool-down. Validate it for BullWatt and save it.”
4. Review and save the session:
The assistant reads the BullWatt format, checks similar catalog sessions, creates the workout, and validates its duration and power targets. Review the summary and approve the save action if your assistant requests confirmation.
5. Open the workout in BullWatt:
After saving, the assistant returns a BullWatt link for your new session. Open it in Google Chrome, set your FTP, connect your Bluetooth FTMS trainer, and start riding in ERG mode.
Ideas for your next request
- “Build a gentle 30-minute recovery workout after a hard weekend.”
- “Create a 60-minute sweet spot session with short cadence changes and a maximum of 90% FTP.”
- “Give me a 25-minute workout for returning to cycling after a break, with a long warm-up.”
- “Design a punchy 40-minute VO2 max workout with equal work and recovery intervals.”
Good to know: technical validation confirms that a workout is compatible with BullWatt; it does not replace medical advice or guidance from a qualified coach. Choose an intensity appropriate for your health and experience.
